Save the Date Cards

What is a Save the Date Card?

A Save the Date Card acts as an early announcement which notifies your guests that you have set a date for your wedding and asks them to put it in their diary. These cards are not official invitations and usually only reveal the wedding date and some brief details of the location if necessary. Save the Date cards are ideal for couples who need to give guests lots of advance notice; particularly useful if you are getting married abroad or are inviting guests from abroad.

When should I order them?

About 6 weeks prior to when you want to send them out.

Will I get to see a proof before they are printed?

Yes! Your proof will be uploaded to our online proofing system where you can view it onscreen, you can then make unlimited amounts of comments to the proof. Once you submit your comments, we will upload a 2nd version, and so on. You can see up to 5 versions. (The original version is proof 1) You can then 'Approve' with the click of your mouse.

When should I send them?

They can be sent up to a year in advance of the wedding.

How many should I order?

Remember you only need one per couple or family. We advise that you add 10% extra just in case.

How are Save the Date cards worded?

Here are 4 examples, more details about the location may be added if required.

Day Invitations

What is a Day Invitation?

Of course, your Day Invitations are the most important piece of stationery. They invite guests to attend your wedding ceremony and the following reception.

When should I order them?

Approx. 4 months prior to the wedding. The proof should be approved no later than 3 months prior to the wedding. Please don't leave it any later!

In 2013 & 2014 we are finding that many brides are leaving it later and later to order in an effort to hold off for deals. This can lead to terrible stress for the bride as we have to rush her through the proofing process and may not have the stock at short notice. Ironically it can also mean more expense as we have to get our team to work overtime to fulfill orders at the last minute. Please don't do that to yourself or us!

Traditionally they are sent 8 weeks prior to the wedding, however as we all lead such busy lives today, many couples are opting to give guests more notice.

How many should I order?

Remember you only need one per couple or family. Please order a sufficient amount as re-ordering small amounts can be expensive. We advise that you add 10% to cover in case of handwriting errors, a growing guest list or you may want to invite guests from a reserve list should your first choice guests decline. We can re-print more invitations for you after your initial order, but please note that our minimum order for invitations is 10.

How are Day Invitations worded?

This is the most frequest question we get asked and there is a whole page dedictaed to it! Check out the 'Wording' page.

Reply Card

What is an Reply Card?

R.S.V.P. cards also know as response or reply cards, are sent out with your invitations. Guests are required to indicate if they wish to attend or not, and post them back to you in the supplied pre-printed envelope. They are very useful as you are guaranteed to get a faster response.

When should I order them?

Approx. 4 months prior to the wedding, along with your invitations.

Send them along with the day invitations.

How many should I order?

One for every day invitation.

Do they come with envelopes?

Yes, all our R.S.V.P. cards are supplied with envelopes and come printed with your return address on them, this is included in the price.

Should I send R.S.V.P. cards out with my Evening Invitations?

No, evening guests are not asked to respond because they are not being invited to a sit down meal, and therefore you will not need to know exact numbers.

What address should we put on the R.S.V.P. envelopes?

The address of whoever is hosting the wedding. If the bride's parents are inviting, then the R.S.V.P.s go back to them.

Should we put a stamp on the R.S.V.P. envelopes?

Yes it is a nice touch and not a huge expense in the scheme of things. Your guests will have no excuse for not replying. If some of your guests live abroad you will have to let them get their own postage unless you have access to the foreign stamps in question.

What if guests forget to write their name on the R.S.V.P. cards?

This is a common problem, guests can sometimes forget to write their names and just tick the box leaving you scratching your head. To combat this we suggest that you number the R.S.V.P. cards on the back in pencil. Keep your numbered guest list so you can identify any anonymous replies later.

How are R.S.V.P. Cards Worded?

Our R.S.V.P. Cards are all worded in the same fashion as below. Customised R.S.V.P. Cards are available in the certain ranges only.

Evening Invitation

What is an Evening Invitation?

Evening Invitations invite guests to attend the reception only, usually after the meal. They can be less formal in tone and should not include an R.S.V.P.

When should I order them?

Approx. 4 months prior to the wedding, along with your invitations.

Normally they are sent 4 weeks prior to the wedding, however as we all lead such busy lives today, many couples are opting to give guests more notice.

How many should I order?

Remember you only need one per couple or family. Please order a sufficient amount as re-ordering small amounts can be expensive. We advise that you add 10% to cover in case of handwriting errors, a growing guest list. We can re-print more invitations for you after your initial order, but please note that our minimum order for invitations is 10.

How are Evening Invitations Worded?

Normally the Evening Invitations will follow the same style of wording as the Day Invitations with the omission of the church and reply details.

What time should I put on my Evening Invitation?

You should check this with your hotel, however evening guests are normally asked to arrive between 8pm and 9pm.

Ceremony Booklet

What is a Ceremony Booklet?

Ceremony Booklets (a.k.a. Order of Service Booklets or Mass Booklets) are a guide to the wedding service. They vary greatly between different religions and can also be used for civil ceremonies.

When should I order them?

You can order them along with the day invitations or place a separate order nearer the wedding. In any case you need to order them no later than 8 weeks prior to your wedding. If you are traveling and need them well in advance of the wedding day then please allow more time.  You should fill in the ceremony form no later than 6 weeks prior and approve no later than 4 weeks prior to the wedding.

Will I get to see a proof before they are printed?

Yes off course!

How many should I order?

We have found that 1 booklet per couple attending the ceremony is more than enough. We have only had a handful of customers who wanted to get 1 booklet for every guest. Our minimum order quantity for printed booklets is 30. If you just need covers the minimum is 10.

What is the difference between 'Ceremony Covers' and 'Fully Printed Printed Ceremony Booklets'

ou will notice that we offer 'Ceremony Covers' as well as fully printed booklets. Some of our customers prefer to print out and bind their own booklets and just want a nice cover to match the rest of their stationery. We sell matching paper too. If you are confident on the computer and have a good printer and a long arm stapler, then this is a good money saver (factor in the cost of ink, paper & your time though!) On the other hand if you want us to take care of everything for you then we are here to help. Ceremony Booklets are a speciality of ours and we go into a lot of detail with you, which you won't find elsewhere.

Can I buy the blank insert paper too?

Yes matching insert paper is available to buy in the Accessories section. You will firstly need to work out how many sheets your booklet needs. Remember 1 A4 sheet equates to 4 booklet pages.

How many pages come in a Fully Printed Ceremony Booklet?

The price of fully printed ceremony booklets include up to 16 pages. We usually do not need to use this many pages.

How do I submit the text I want printed in my booklet?

We have super Ceremony Forms you can fill out. To learn more visit the 'Ceremony Booklet' page.

Place Card

What is a Place Card?

Place Cards are small 'tent' style cards which tell your guests where they should sit at each table at the reception. You can order them blank and write on the names yourself, or you can order them printed by us. You supply a list of names and we typeset and print each little card individually.

When should I order them?

You can order them along with the day invitations or you can place a separate order nearer the wedding. You should order and submit the names no later than 4 weeks prior to the wedding. There is no proof involved, we will print straight away.

How many should I order?

One place card for each person plus a few extra blank cards in case you have last minute guests.

What is the difference between a blank place card and a printed one?

Blank Place Cards are supplied without any printing on them so you can write on the guests' names yourself. This is a cheaper and more flexible option. However if you would prefer that we print each guest's name onto the place cards, then you should order Printed Place Cards. You will need to be very organised and send us a list of your guests.

Will I get to see a proof before they are printed?

No, it's not a good use of time to create a proof for every single place card. When it comes to printed place cards, as soon as you send us the names, we go straight ahead and print them which is why the list should be complete and thoroughly checked for spelling before you send it to us.

How should I submit the name to Love Letters?

Please supply the guests names to us in an excel sheet, divided into the tables they will be sitting at, we will package the cards accordingly. This will save you huge task later on. It can take about 2 hours to sort out place cards into groups, not something you can expect your hotel to do on the day. If you are not very organised and don't yet know your seating plan but still want printed place cards, you can just send us the list and we will package them alphabetically for you to sort later.

How are Place Cards worded?

Unless you are having a very small wedding, both first names and surnames should be on the place card. Otherwise you could end up with confusion if you have a few people with the same first name. For formal weddings also include the title of the guest too. For Example: John Smith or Mr. John Smith

What if I don't know all the guests' names?

You may have invited; for example 'John Smith plus guest'. In which case he should have informed you who he is bringing on the R.S.V.P. card. If you still don't know, you need to contact them and find out. It is not very welcoming for the unknown person to have no place card or worse, a place card with 'John's guest' printed on it!

Menu Card

What is a Menu Card?

The main function of Menu Card is to inform guests of the meal ahead, but they are also a lovely addition to your tables, helping to bring your stationery theme through to your reception.

When should I order them?

You can order them along with the day invitations or you can place a separate order nearer the wedding. In any case the text for menus should be supplied as soon as you have confirmed the menu but no later than 8 weeks prior to the wedding. The proof should be approved no later than 6 weeks prior to the wedding.

Will I get to see a proof before they are printed?

Yes off course!

How many should I order?

3 to 4 menus on a table of 8 to 10 people will be more than enough.

How are Menu Cards Worded?

Each menu is different, however if space provides we try to fit the couples' name and wedding date at the top. Names of dishes are usually treated in the same way as song titles so each word should be capitalised. Wines can also be included if space allows. Here are some examples.

Thank You Card

What is a Thank You Card?

Thank you cards are sent to your guests, thanking them for their gift and for attending your wedding.

When should I order them

You can order them along with the day invitations or place a separate order nearer the wedding. You can order them after the wedding but we advise against this as thank you cards should be sent promptly after the wedding.

How many should I order?

Add your total day invitations plus evening invitations and add a few extra for other people who will help you or give you a gift even though they are not wedding guests.

Can we get a custom message printed inside our thank you cards?

Yes, you can choose between Blank Thank You Cards and Personalsied Thank You Cards. Etiquette dictates that you should really hand write a thank you note to each guest mentioning the gift they gave. However many busy brides and grooms go for the easy option of a generic pre-printed message. It's a question of personal preference.

If we go for printed thank you cards, what kind of message would be printed inside?

Here are some examples:

01. Thank You Card Example

Our thanks for all your good wishes
and very generous gift.

02. Thank You Card Example
